Curriculum Quarter 1Math:
-Place Value -Data and graphing, coordinate pairs -Line graphs -Numerical patterns -Volume and cubes -Order of operations -Multiplication with area model and algorithm -Division with 1-digit divisor and 2-digit divisor Science: -Characteristics of Living Organisms (Genetics and DNA and Cells) -Structures and Functions of Living Organisms (skeletal/muscular, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive) Social Studies: -Constitution -Bill of Rights -Peamble -Branches of Government Writing: Paragraph of the Week: This will include a graphic organizer, rough draft, editing, and final draft. The topics will vary each week and integrate reading skills, as well as a spiral review of language skills. EL: Esperanza Rising and Universal Declaration of Human Rights DEAR TIME: Students are expected to read independently 20 minutes a day (a book of their choice) and be prepared to read aloud a paragraph and the main idea of their book on any given day with their class. I intend to have them also listen to Among the Hidden on youtube while integrating and reinforcing quarter 1 reading skills. |
